more pics to come
How bout a new twist on an old subject? Ive been searching all over trying to find all the options people have come up with for the coolant port issues on the K24 heads with little success. I have had the "adapter plate" option for years and it blows...looks like crap, pushes my blower out way too far and worst of all it leaks into my intake... The other option is to thread a fitting (only about 3 threads to be exact) into the head right next to the intake where there is no room and it looks like crap. Now Im not claiming to be or think I am the first to do this so I really dont care about whateverhisnameis did this like abillionyearsago because if they did I havent seen it... I think this is a superior method to solve the coolant port dilemma. More metal to thread, more room for the fitting and it will just plain look better...
Drill a hole in the EGR port like a 3/8ish one slightly to the left of center. The metal gets real thick to the right and there is no need to have a huge hole, just need warm coolant to get to the thermostat
Then plug the little hole with a 3/8 NPT plug. Thread the EGR port for 1/2 NPT and bingo bango you got a better fitting position and more room.
i have mine open and with the ktuned plate never had an issue
The egr hole is open and never had an issue using my cut RBC and my turbo GE manifold now
got ya. I have a jrsc and the fit is so tight to get a fitting next to the manifold it seems stupid to me to put one there plus the fact that theres only about 3 threads worth of metal. that is why i figured id use the egr port to run the coolant through and plug the little hole... idk it solves my problems and looks better imo...
That looks good. I may try that.
Reviving an old topic.
Any issues since the modifications has been done ! Looking to do the same.
Thanks,
Ray
