    Filter Recharging?

    I've had my K&N since July 03 and I have yet to recharge my filter, how often am I suppose to be recharging it?

    I think it's every 3-5k miles. I mean that's when I recharge mine anyway.

    I check mine every oil change. Usually i have to recharge it every third time. So about 15k.

    The K&N recharge kit instructions say something like every 50,000 miles for normal conditions.

    about every 5K miles...and everytime I take the filter off and take an air compressor to it all kinds of sand and stuff always comes out.

    They tell you not to use forced air. It just forces the dirt to get stuck in the filter.

    I clean mine from the inside out. I also have an extra one in my garage so I dont have to sit around waiting for the oil to dry.

    Your supposed to buy the K&N recharge kit, that comes with the cleaning solution and oil. The kit costs about $10, and is mixed in along with the filters at your local auto parts store. I ususally get about 3-4 cleanings out of a kit. HTH.
