radar detector

i was wondering which rader detector is the best, also if the detector will still detect cops if not using they're radar gun. any other info on this would be good. thanks

no detector can detect radar if the officer has it on stand by...
in other words if he just waits to see your car then turns it on...
it will be too late...

in texas, law enforcement is required to be within a 1/4 mile of you to clock your speed. hopefully you would be able to see a cop within that distance and will have slowed down accordingly. all the radar detectors in this test were able to detect radar at least a mile out.

Can cops detect that you have a radar dector in your car? Its illegal in Canada, but i'd be willing to take the chance.

if your worried about cops seeing your detector and want the best money can buy, they make detector that have two seperate sensors (one you put in front license plate and the other on the rear, you can mount that display anywhere you choose.

a detector of this magnatude generally comes with a "you get a ticket within 1 or 2 years, we'll pay it..."

obvisouly, your looking at some serious cheese for something along these lines. (between 800-2k depending on manufactor/options)

personally, i have a $35 (shipped to my door) detector i got of ebay and has saved my ass MANY MANY MANY MANY MANY MANY MANY (you get the point) times...

the trick is to use other cars on the road to have cops radar them, then you see where they hide... mental note made, always keep an eye on that location.
