changing fuel pump, drain gas tank?

i have about a half a tank now and am doing my fuel pump install in a few hours after i come back from class. i looked in the service manual and it doesn't say anything about draining the fuel out of the tank, do you have to do this?

jimmyjames covered this, not sure if it was the old or new ephatch.
he mentioned something about a cable being very easy to kink or something, yours could have been about to kink and it kinked from the pressure or something weird.

    edit: heres the link http://www.ephatch.com/forum/showthread.php?t=43536
check it out, its probably a lil different since thats walbro and yours is the stock pump
