yeah its to let out hot air... all i did to mine was pull the rubber seal. The gap is plenty big to escape the hot ait out especialy when the car is moving and fresh air is coming from the front
no sir! looks and cooling wise

Hood Spacer Bushings. Yea, from what I've heard, it's used to add space under the hood for a swapped motor or for heat relief. But this is usually, from what I've seen, the older EGs and such. Also, usually a turbo is involved, but yea.
IMO, it doesn't look as clean or "floating", but that's just me. And yea, they sell a "kit" for this, but its just a few oversized washers.
Here's a couple pics:
Thanks for the info everyone. Looks like it would be bad in the rain. Anyone think so?
I thought about doing this because i see it all the time in Honda Tuning but our hood is pretty step enough and higher and it would look rediculous IMO
Its more for looks i dont think it does anything for heat really.
Not sure if this is bullshit but someone once told me that in Nascar, I think it was a Dodge or some shit, they added vents above the fenders and it improved cooling dramatically.
If that works, this works.
Is it just me that thinks, this is a dumb mod??????? if it is, then owell.
It's a small mod...true
dumb mod? maybe
Time to do this...not much
Worth it? I think so.
Looks nice? to some...
hehehehehehehehe
i like it. i did it on most of my cars even my turbo truck.. then again most of my cars were turbo hehe
Looks good on the ep I guess, might try it out .
i think it makes your car look somewhat broken.
