are there any modifications (besides plugging the oil feed) that need to be done to use the a2 oil pump? or is it simple bolt-on?
2003 RSX-S
11221-PNC-000 PLATE, BAFFLE 17.84
11200-PRB-000 PAN, OIL 173.63
15100-PRB-A01 PUMP ASSY., OIL 129.24
13441-PCX-004 CHAIN (64L) 32.72
The chain tensioners are exactly the same part number.
Total 353.43
2005 Honda Civic SI
15100-PNE-013 PUMP ASSY., OIL 333.81
So we add to list:
From '03 RSX
90004-PE2-005 BOLT, SEALING (10MM) 2.34
90401-PE2-003 WASHER, SEALING (10MM) 1.60
This would replace this part from the EP pump:
11135-PNA-000 ORIFICE, BLOCK (LOWER)

This saved me alot of time and didn't have to make a thread. This needs to be stickied! Alot of ep3er's need to know this info expecially the ones with a k24. It's a simple mod that can go a long way. How difficult is it to do the timing for the oil pump?
Great thread, gonna go get my parts from acura this week, Probly gonna go with a used oil pan though to save some money.
The oil pump chain tensioner is the same between k20a2/a3... but the guides ARE different. Add the k20a2 oil pump chain guide to your list.
Dont forget the bolts for the baffle, and the three bolts to mount the pump as well.
Also, when plugging the oil orifice... if you use a Honda sealing bolt and washer, you do not need to use any Hondabond (Ultraflange II) in the hole. If you would like a pic of one let me know, i can snap a few as i just pulled one out of the k20 im assembling now.
I'm about to put k20z1 piston, rods, crankshaft, and oil pump in a k20a3 block. Do I have to seal any holes for the k20a3? I'm going to get all the necessary parts chain guide, baffle, chain, and oil pan from a rsx type-s.
Yah you have to plug the orifice hole in the block that feeds the a3 oil pump. Its the brass colored grub screw... its easy to see. Honda actually makes a sealing plug and washer for it... but you can use a bolt and Hondabond.
does all k24 blocks have that orifice hole that needs to be plugged in my case a k24a1 block?
The k24a1 has the orifice, as does the k20a3. Its an oil control for the balance shaft style oil pumps.
So the final list of parts needed are:
13460-PNC-004 GUIDE, OIL PUMP CHAIN 8.54
11221-PNC-000 PLATE, BAFFLE 17.84
11200-PRB-000 PAN, OIL 173.63
15100-PRB-A01 PUMP ASSY., OIL 129.24
13441-PCX-004 CHAIN (64L) 32.72
90004-PE2-005 BOLT, SEALING (10MM) 2.34
90401-PE2-003 WASHER, SEALING (10MM) 1.60
Mounting bolts:
95701-06025-08 BOLT, FLANGE (6X25) 0.62
95701-08050-08 BOLT, FLANGE (8X50) 0.83
95701-08075-08 BOLT, FLANGE (8X75) 0.88
95701-06014-08 BOLT, FLANGE (6X14) 0.59 (maybe 6 six of these? [Baffle Bolts])
Correct?
How much more clearance do you get with an a2 oil pan?

yeah, the a3 becomes inefficient after x rpms, the a2 can keep pumping up higher. s2k pump, even higher.
