Kpro will be in the future, I want a lil upgrade if I'm doin all this work ya know
Why rebuild the a3? Many reasons. First and foremost... you don't have KPro. Regardless of it being flooded... if it ran then its likely rebuildable. If you're gonna rebuild something why not something you already own?
If you want a k24 then get one, but don't bail on the a3 just because you think it isn't worth the effort... or you think you can't do it for whatever reason. Send the shortblock my way if you think its worthless. Ill even pay for shipping. Just don't get mad when you see it runnin strong in a 94 Accord for less than $500 worth of parts. LOL

Then k24 it is. ; ) question answered! Haha
Should I tear it down and inspect/replace?
And how bad is it to run the a4 on my ecu, I have bolt ons and no stock stuff..
Let me know what you did, i am having the same problem with a3 cams i bought skunk2 turbo 1 cams but looking the upgrade valve train for cheap dont know what to use?
I did nothing. Still driving it. Hopefully it lasts until spring.
Nope. I have a couple sets available to me if need be
You're telling me you know its going to blow up in the middle of winter and I'll be screwed hahaha
i'd toss the a4 head on the a3 and rebuild the bottom end with oem. a cylinder hone is cheap and so are rings and bearings. would net you a lot of experience and satisfaction with a rebuild. then i'd take the block and get the a1 rods and pistons, or some forged pieces and put it together for later. slap an a2 head on it and kpro. done. 2 builds in one.
well im having the same problem but i found skunk2 turbo 1 cams for cheap! so im gonna install those with the z3 springs, seats, retainers, new chain and tensioner
