    Whining sound coming from clutch

ive had this going on for a while now and im planning on dropping the transmission and replacing whatever i need to, i was told it is the throw out bearing but i would like to be sure.

whenever i disengage the clutch (Press it in) it whines if i rev it while disengaged it gets louder, i dont have any problems when the clutch is engaged though (clutch depressed , wheels moving).

does this sound like the throw out bearing or something else?

also the clutch works perfectly fine.

If the sound goes away when you depress the clutch pedal, thats usually your throw out. Not if you depress it and then it makes the noise.
