Broke 6 Wheel Studs on the Highway

Yesterday I was on the highway driving and heard some noises and shakiness coming from the wheel. I started to slow down and all of a sudden I felt my car drop on the front driver side wheel and I smelled burning rubber and heard my subframe dragging onto the highway. Turns out 6 of my studs broke off my car and I'm not even sure how. After an expensive tow and repairs to my car, I'm now back on the road with a spare tire. Luckily, no one was hurt but it was a scary feeling!

Cell phone snap on the highway:

I bought the car about 2 months ago so I'm not sure what the car's been through, but no, I have never abused it. Apparently 4 broke on my driver side front and two on the passenger side front.

someone must have "dukes of hazard" that car in a past life, I highly suggest you do a good inspection of all the front suspension and then the rear. check for any stress or damge.

I also suggest replacing the studs with ARP

You're damn lucky that incident didn't ruin your HFP kit. It's a pricey and hard to get a hold of kit to begin with and it's not even "JDM".

Yeah, I felt the same thing when it happened. When I heard the subframe drop, I kept hoping that it didn't damage the front lip as I know it's pretty much irreplaceable!

    Damn, that's crazy!
Lucky that no one was hurt!

Someone could have driven onto a curb at high speeds on it before. Get that front suspension looked at!

If the subframe hit, make sure it didn't bend so much that you can't get a straight alignment. If it did, you will end up replacing it.
