    Question Tein Basics

Anybody else have Tein Basics installed on their rides? I'm getting some crunching sounds when going slow...hard to explain.

oh god no. I am having the same problem with my progress springs and planned on getting the basics to alleviate that noise. I hope it was just an install mishap.... :(

keep us updated if you find out what it is.

BTW, the noise is coming from the rear shocks/coilovers. The front suspension is whisper quiet. Maybe they just need to settle or something.

My Progress springs made noises in the rear and eventually went away, but then the front right started driving me nuts.

the crunching sound is the plastic sleeves on the back that you had to put back on.

take a knife and cut off about an inch and then see if its still there.

did it work? If so, since I have the stock rubber on the progress springs that I had on the stocks, I should just cut away a little of the rubber?

I don't think he was talking about the sleeves on the actual coils of the springs. He is talking about the plastic shock dust/dirt cover. I haven't had a chance to trim them, but it appears I may not have to since the noise is more or less gone now. However, when I get a chance I will trim them.

The Tein Basics are awesome! :D

the plastic that is knarled from the spring will eventually give and break off. it does look a lot nicer when you cut it though.
    heh.

I have some pics of it (meant to post them earlier)...

It's the black plastic cover (boot) that sits inside the springs and covers the shock (it can be seen in these rear install pics...the top pic shows it best...its right behind where it says Tein on the spring):

Here are more pics of my Tein Basics (fronts) installed:

I've never heard that noise on my Tein SS rears, or any noise, and they're basically the same as the Basics. I wonder why you'd have the problem.

This may or may be related, but your dust shield on the front left looks bunched up. Or is that just the way it looks in the picture?
