k20a3 does respond well to mods, but is surley lacking a real vtec. if the weight was sufficiently reduced it would be a better platform for the a3. Nothing that cant be fixed/w a little "TLC"

but to answer the question yes they do suck.........than sqish, than bang, than blow.
I love the A3 its perfect for a daily driver. Plus with basic mods its close to perfect to cruise on the freeway. But adding some HP wouldn't hurt at all.
