It's the control head for the ham radio body mounted under the driver's seat. The mic comes up thru the cubby. There's a cynical bunch on during the morning drive and it makes it worthwhile. If I'm on a long drive I'll program Echolink and IRLP nodes into it and talk around the world. I work in the music industry, sometimes it's nice to just sit back and chat with someone you just don't know, just like here

thats so cool!! so does your license plate say HAM on it? lol and do you need one of those HUGE gastly looking antennas?
I refuse to use ANY vanity plate, the antenna is 19" tall and can be seen in my install thread. It's mounted back by the hatch and is removable via a Moto NMO mount.
Heres the life of my stereo install
1st head unit Panasonic Ghost
2nd Head unit Blaupunkt in dash DVD
3rd head unit Kenwood In dash DVD
4th Eclipse in dash DVD with Navigation
1st speakers 2 15L7's with audiobahn amp
2nd 15L7 and Kicker 600.2 amp
3rd Replaced 600.2 amp with 1200.1 amp
And finally current 1 12L7 kappa perfects up front regular kappas in rear kicker 1200.1 and 600.4 and complete sound deadning throughout vehicle
